I'm One!

At one year, Addison is...

...Wearing size 4 diapers, some 12/18 month clothes, though she can wear a lot of 18-24 month and some 2T (!), size 4 shoes, some 5s, also some 12-18 month shoes. And she has hair! Not quite enough to give up the headbands, but there are the most beautiful curls on the back of her head!

...Waving at everyone and saying "bah-bye." Sometimes her hand is turned around so she waves to herself, which is really cute! When we are at home and say "Let's go!" she runs to the garage door, ready to get in the car, then when she is buckled in her carseat, she just grins from ear to ear! Car rides are so fun!...Developing quite a sense of humor! She has an adorable fake laugh that she will use to get you to laugh, and she is very ticklish on the inside of her thighs and her collarbone! Like fall down hysterical ticklish! So fun! She will also join in if we are laughing at something just to be a part of it! Last night she had a serious case of the sillies and stayed up long past her bedtime laughing! =)

...Saying dada, mama, poo-pah (puppy), ba (ball), babal (bottle), buh (banana). And yes, I realize that those last three are very similar, but each has its own sound when you hear it! When we had a fire in the fireplace during the ice storm, we said "fire" to her many times and she would try to say it, but that's a lot of sounds to figure out, so it just came out "ffff." She can also identify her belly (and says "be-bel" and pats on it to make sure you know she's got it!). She will also "moo" when asked what the cow says, and "ruff" when asked what the puppy says! She will kiss the animals in her book when you say "kiss" and point outside when asked where the puppy is! There are several other words that she can identify but I can't think of them at the moment!

...Still the proud owner of eight pearly whites. We thought her molars were on their way, but no such luck! She has been chewing on her fingers a little lately, though, and Dr. G said that her lower left molar looked super swollen on Monday at her appointment, so maybe? ...30 1/2" tall, keeping her in the 95th percentile and weighs 23 pounds, I think the 75th percentile. Of course I always forget to ask the actual percentile, but I think this is close!

...Loving playing Peek-A-Boo, being tickled, opening and closing doors and rattling the gate on the stairs. And hiding her bottle (milk cup) in many fun locations, such as in the kitchen drawers, her wagon, THE TOILET...

...Still loving baths, and loves to lay on her tummy and splash in the warm water.

...Loving dance parties in the living room!

...Eating like a champ! At least 30 ounces per day of whole milk, which she takes from a sippy cup (but we still call it a bottle) plus a whole banana and a piece of cinnamon toast or a waffle at breakfast, a turkey and cheese sandwich (cut into cute teeny little pieces) with fruit and cheese for lunch, and pasta, veggies and chicken for dinner. She is getting pretty good at feeding herself with a spoon. It's still messy--I won't be giving her tomato soup anytime soon--but she's getting the hang of it! She still loves yogurt, applesauce, yogurt puffs, dried fruit, nilla wafers, animal crackers, graham crackers, blueberries, broccoli, strawberries, raisins, peanuts (just tried those yesterday!)...

...Walking everywhere, extremely well. And quickly. But she's had four months of practice!...Is still going to bed around 7:15 or 7:30 each night, and sleeping until about 6:30, although we don't usually get her out of bed until closer to 7:00. Breakfast at 7:30, playtime (maybe a little Backyardigans or Jack's Big Music Show), then naptime from 9:00-11:00. She has been trying to wake up a little earlier from that nap, but she still loves/needs it and goes down without a whimper! She does know that's her quiet time, though, and if she wakes, she will sit in her bed and chatter with her giraffe and read books! She also still takes her afternoon nap, usually 2-4. When you're so active, naps are important! What is most amazing, is that LIKE CLOCKWORK, at 9 and 2 and around 7:15, Addison will go to the stairs and try to climb through the gate to go up the stairs. It's bedtime! What child does that?

Addison, you are the most amazing little thing we have ever known, and we are so grateful that God has given us the task of being your guardians on Earth! Here's to many many more fun years! We love you so much!
