HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY, JIM ED!
It may be Oscar night, but something else has our attention around here! Jim Ed is now officially among the ranks of "adult," as he has reached his 30th birthday! We had a yummy dinner Friday night at the club to celebrate--all you can eat seafood (Daddy's favorite, definitely not Mommy's, but it's his birthday, so...), and Daddy tore it up! I didn't manage to get any pictures, but really, how exciting would those be?
Mommy and Addison picked out a delicious cake for Daddy at Shelby Lynn's, and boy was Daddy happy!

Daddy has his very own special method of eating cake, as you will see below. It involves a fork, and no plate. And that is special because it means that no one else can have any of it because the edges are so jagged that it is totally impossible to cut a piece! So the cake becomes his and only his. The only problem with his eating an entire cake by himself is that we have to hear about how fat he's getting for the whole next week. I guess it's at least good that he uses a fork?

I had originally wanted to plan a huge surprise party to mark the occasion, but as we got closer to the end of my pregnancy, I knew that just wasn't going to happen. So Plan B went into effect. I mailed out cards to some of our family and friends asking them to send funny gifts to Jim Ed representing 30. Here's the card:
And here's some of the result:

Jim Ed got more Metamucil, Preparation H, and Depends than you can ever imagine! We have some funny, and very creative, friends and family! A few of you have pretty dirty minds--you know who you are! =)
Here are two of the gifts I thought were pretty priceless:
An assortment of coupons from the Bertrams to help him with his new daughter!
A framed picture of his hero, Houston Nutt, and a bag of nuts to help him remember Houston's time at Arkansas. Oh, how sorely he is missed by us! Thanks, Aunt Paula and Toppy!

Daddy's favorite gift of all, Miss Addison! She is so advanced that she picked out and signed her own birthday card for Daddy! Look how proud she is to give it to him!
Thank you to everyone who helped me out with this--I think it really made Jim Ed's 30th special. He definitely got a kick out of it! We have some amazing people in our lives, and we really appreciate you all!
By the way, Cy, you are one sneaky little booger! How you got to the front door with that gift when we were sitting in the dining room is beyond me! Thank you so much!
And now for some more Addison:
All dressed up and someplace to go! We went to Aunt Shannon's house today to let Falene and Mack play together and so Addison could see her cousins and MiMi. She insisted on getting totally dressed. What a diva!

Addison loves her cousin Maddie!
Chillin' with Mommy...
And one more sweet face for the road! We love you so much, little one! You are starting to smile at us more and more, which is so precious! I just wish those fussy periods would get fewer and farther between! The smiles make it all worthwhile, though!
